Journal Entry 2

After gathering as much credit as I could I planted a signal beacon, hailing whatever ship may be nearby.
After a day a junker stopped by, claiming he was on his way to Voreki, the Galactic Republics capitol, my dad had always held disdain for them, reason he became an asteroid farmer he said, but it was my only choice, so bartered for a ride, ended up giving him a fair amount of credit.
He told me to hop in the back and make myself comfy, it would take a little over a month but the journey would be worth it he said.
We spent our days playing games mostly, he was real fond of a game called chess, said it was a relic from before there had even been wheeled vehicles, I never won but Gunther as I came to know him was never a sore winner, always helping me with tips and advice, I got really good at being sneaky but still never won.
I came to really like Gunther in all his oddities, being okay living near so many rusted items and sharp objects was a dangerous thing I thought at the time.
He became almost an uncle figure to me, wacky and warm but never cruel, I thought maybe life wouldn’t be so horrible from now on.
